It’s been a long while since I’ve blogged. I apologize, I don’t mean to keep everyone out of the loop. We’ve hit a lot of milestones in the last couple months and it has been a very emotional time.
On a happy note:
On January 31st, Caleb and I celebrated our THIRD anniversary!!! He surprised me with a beautiful ring. Making it to this anniversary is HUGE because we’ve overcome all the odds and we are even stronger than before his accident.
A week later, we hit the one year mark since Caleb’s accident. I think of it as his “survival” day. I took the day off of work and school and we had the greatest lazy day ever.
Just another six days later, it was Caleb’s birthday! It was so great to be able to take him out to eat this year than leave him in a hospital room. We went to eat at our FAVORITE restaurant (Texas Roadhouse of course).
The two of us on Super Bowl Sunday.
As you can see, we’ve had a very eventful couple of months. It’s been a whirlwind of emotions that have been, at times, difficult to sort through.
Just yesterday I learned that my Nana was in the hospital. She has Alzheimer’s. My mom and I drove up to see her and they told us that she had a kidney infection that had turned septic. It’s all been very scary, and seeing her in the hospital has been giving me flashbacks of my time at Parkland with Caleb. We’re not too worried about her though, she’s in good spirits and was released to a skilled nursing facility to work on rehab and kick the rest of the infection. She keeps telling me that “God has got this in His hands” and I know she’s right. She is a lady of such strong and unwavering faith.
We’re also getting very close to my nephew being born! I absolutely can’t wait to be an auntie. It’s so sweet to watch my brother turn into a Dad. His little boy is going to have two of the greatest parents ever, a firefighter and a nurse.
All in all, we’re doing very well right now. We still go see movies every week and just love each other to death. I’m extremely proud of where we are compared to last year. I am thankful for Caleb, and for this life.
Thank y’all for your patience in this tumultuous and worrying but wonderful and amazing life of ours.
